Ordinals Reference - 1st to 20th
Add -ième to the cardinal for every ordinal from 2 upwards (drop a final mute e first: quatre to quatrième). Two ranks also have a word that is not built from the cardinal: premier / première, and second / seconde, which stands beside the regular deuxième. The abbreviation is 1er (masculine), 1re (feminine), then 2e, 3e and so on - never 2ème in formal style. The Académie française excepts those same two pairs: premier / première are 1er / 1re, and second / seconde are 2d / 2de.

FAQ
Is there a free printable French numbers 1-100 chart?
Yes. There is a ready-made one-page PDF you can download directly (the "French numbers 1-100 chart" button at the top of this page, no signup), listing every number from un to cent in French, four columns to an A4 page. The same 1-100 reference chart is also shown on this page; to save any chart yourself, press Ctrl+P (Windows) or Cmd+P (Mac) and choose "Save as PDF". Everything is free for personal and classroom use.
How do I get a French numbers PDF without signing up?
No signup, no email. The 1-100 chart and the fill-in worksheet are both direct downloads from the two buttons at the top of this page. For the other charts - the 70-99 cheat sheet, the ordinals reference, or the blank worksheet - use your browser's print dialog (Ctrl+P / Cmd+P) on this page and pick "Save as PDF" as the destination, which produces a clean, print-formatted PDF of whichever chart you have scrolled to.
Do you have a French numbers worksheet PDF with an answer key?
Yes. There is a ready-made one-page worksheet PDF you can download directly (the "Fill-in worksheet + answer key" button at the top of this page, or the same download beside the worksheet further down, no signup). It lists 16 numbers spanning the easy ranges and the tricky 70-99 vigesimal zone, with a name/date line and an empty column for students to write the French, plus a separate answer key generated from the same verified engine so teachers can fold it under. The same worksheet is also shown on this page if you prefer to print with Ctrl+P / Cmd+P.
Is there a printable French ordinal numbers chart (1st to 20th)?
Yes. The ordinals reference above covers premier through vingtième with masculine and feminine forms and the correct abbreviations (1er, 1re, then 2e, 3e and so on, never 2ème in formal style). Add -ième to the cardinal for every ordinal from 2 upwards. Two ranks also have a word that is not built from the cardinal: premier / première for first, and second / seconde, which stands beside deuxième for second. Those are the same two pairs the Académie française excepts from the plain-e abbreviation: premier / première are 1er / 1re, and second / seconde are 2d / 2de.
Why is 70 to 99 the hardest part of a French numbers chart?
Standard French builds these from twenties: 70 is soixante-dix (60+10), 80 is quatre-vingts (4x20), and 90 is quatre-vingt-dix (4x20+10), so 97 is quatre-vingt-dix-sept. The 70-99 cheat sheet above colour-codes the arithmetic and shows the simpler Belgian forms (septante 70, nonante 90) alongside for comparison.
Is the worksheet generator free?
Yes, and it stays free. There is no signup, no email capture, no watermark on the sheet, no limit on how many you make, and no paid tier holding anything back. Every option is switched on for everyone. The sheets are free to print and photocopy for classroom use; the only line printed at the foot is numbersinfrench.com, so students can find the reference charts themselves.
Can I print the generated worksheet or save it as a PDF?
Both. "Print worksheet" opens the print dialog of your browser. "Download PDF" saves a real A4 PDF of the questions only, so you can attach it to a Google Classroom, Brightspace or Teams assignment or open it in Kami without handing out the answers; the answer key is a separate "Answer key (PDF)" download, or "Print answer key". It prints on US Letter with fit-to-page left on. "Keep this sheet" gives the sheet a permanent address so the same questions and key open again on any device, and "Share to Google Classroom" posts that address straight into your class stream.
Can I make a worksheet with septante, huitante and nonante?
Yes. The variant control switches the whole sheet, questions and answer key together, between three conventions: France and Quebec (soixante-dix, quatre-vingts, quatre-vingt-dix), Belgium (septante, quatre-vingts, nonante) and Swiss Romandie (septante, huitante, nonante). Pick Belgium or Swiss Romandie and set the range to 70-99 to drill exactly the numbers that differ. Octante is an older word for 80 that survives in a few places but is not taught in Swiss schools today, so the generator uses huitante.
